3. Artificially Ripened Ones Might Make You Sick

Some mangoes sold in stores were forced to ripe using chemical compounds such as calcium carbide which is a well-known carcinogen when present in high quantity. Exposure to this compound can cause problems such as numbness and tingling.

Another important thing to note is that artificially ripened mango do not taste better and are not juicy when compared to the naturally ripe ones.  You can easily spot an artificially ripened mango through the solid green patches present on their skin. The colors are most times not properly blended.
