Benefits Eating Mango – Mangoes are one of the common fruits widely known and majorly consumed by most people on earth. Mango needs a warm climate condition that is why it is majorly grown in equatorial regions like areas such as Ecuador, Brazil Haiti and Mexico. Mangoes are not commercially grown in America but this doesn’t prevent Americans from consuming an average of 3.44 pounds per person every year.

Mangoes are very sweet in taste and also exotic. They are very nutritious even though most people aren’t away of their benefits. However, consuming mango on daily basis might not be right especially when you have conditions such as arthritis and diabetes.

1. You’ll Get A Ton Of Sugar

Do you know that the mango you consume contains about 45.9 grams of sugar? This is what makes up the 50 grams of carbohydrates present in it. The kind of sugar present in mango is known as fructose.

The organ in charge of digesting and processing sugar is the liver and excess of this sugar causes the liver to over work and which leads to it been strained. When investigating the sugar contents present in different fruits, mango was found to contain above average and this could lead to diseases such as diabetes, cancer and even heart disease.

2. Can cause Delayed Allergic Reaction

Mangoes contain a chemical compound known as urushiol. This is an oil that is present in poison ivy, oak, and sumac. People that are allergic are likely going to get a skin rash around their mouth, which is same to the red and itchy problem caused by contact with other urushiol-containing plants.

Now, one tricky thing about reactions gotten from this compound is that it doesn’t occur immediately. Most times it takes about three days before you start noticing reactions on your body, making if very difficult to determine the cause.

So if you recently consumed mango and noticed reactions on your body later on, then you need to stop eating mango and see a doctor.

3. Artificially Ripened Ones Might Make You Sick

Some mangoes sold in stores were forced to ripe using chemical compounds such as calcium carbide which is a well-known carcinogen when present in high quantity. Exposure to this compound can cause problems such as numbness and tingling.

Another important thing to note is that artificially ripened mango do not taste better and are not juicy when compared to the naturally ripe ones.  You can easily spot an artificially ripened mango through the solid green patches present on their skin. The colors are most times not properly blended.

4. Little Benefit Gotten From It In Juice Form

Research have proven that mango in juice form contains no fiber content compared to when consumed in whole. The fiber present in the whole mango prevent blood sugar spikes in human.

Lack of this dietary fiber in human body can lead to problems such as weight gain, constipation, nausea and even sugar level fluctuations. If you continue consuming mango in juice form, you are simply exposing your body to health risk such as diabetes.

5. Unripe Mangoes Can Cause Problem In The Digestive System

Eating unripe mangoes is very uncommon. But the problem here is that sometimes it can be very difficult to tell if the fruit is ripe or not, thereby exposing you to an unripe mango, which can cause stomach pains.  

However, if you have any sort of dietary intolerance to fructose, consuming mango will result to issues such as abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, bloating and or constipation.
